1. This is a course in partial differential equations, the first of two (Math 649-650). The text is
Partial Differential Equations (Graduate Studies in Mathematics, 19)
by Lawrence C. Evans, AMS, 1998.

2. We will cover most of Chapters 1 through 4.

3. Homework problems will be given regularly in class. They will also be posted on the website. The assignments will be collected and selected assignments will be graded.

4. There will be one inclass midterm exam (tentative date: Tuesday, March 4), and one (3 hour) final exam during final exam week. Your course grade will be determined as follows:
25% homework + 25% midterm exam + 50% final exam
Letter grades (plus and minus) will be given.

5. My office is in the Mathematics building, room 226, and office hours are Tuesday and Thursday from 11 to 12.
