Registration and login are required to submit items online and to check the status of current submissions.

 

Author Guidelines

Manuscripts should consist of the following categories:

1. Cover Page:

Title [Please be descriptive in terms of kinds of observation detailed in article]

Author(s) [Name(s) and affiliation(s) with email contact for each. The first author is considered corresponding author unless noted otherwise.] Upon submission, list ALL authors in the online author submission line, separated by comma's!

Key Words [a) List each taxon discussed, including higher classification, e.g., Malacostraca, Amphipoda, Crangonyctidae, Stygobromus nanus; b) List each location mentioned, e.g. Flowerpot Cave, Greenbrier County, West Virginia, USA; c) Categorize natural history phenomenon observed, e.g., predation, reproduction, range extension, new record.]

2. Second and subsequent pages [Text of the article, limited to 1500 words or less. Use SI units]

3. Literature cited [Follow the citation format of Nature, except Journal names have to be spelled out!]

FOR ONLINE SUBMISSION PLEASE REGARD THE FOLLOWING NOTES: A) The online submission will request an Abstract to continue. Just put "None", or "N/A" in the module, and continue!

B) Submit the file in a .doc format (NO .txt, or pages)!

C) After choosing the file on your computer, make sure the file appears by name in the upload window, then hit "upload".

D) You have to login as an AUTHOR to be able to submit a manuscript. To register as an author, just login/register as a member, and add "Author" to your subscription. Any member registration that doesn't contain a real name, and verifyable affiliation/adress will be deleted from the directory and permanently blocked.

 

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
