Specs:

September 2003:

  • Original configuration with 10 Dual processor HP DL360G3 Servers: 2x2.8GHz Pentium 4 Processors (512KB L2 Cache, ServerWorks GC-LE Chipset), 2 GB PC2100 RAM (2 nodes have 1GB)

December 2004: Extension

  • 30 Dual processor Dell PE SC1425 Servers: 2x3.2GHz 'Nocona' Xeon Processors (with EM64T 64 bit extension ,1MB L2 Cache, Intel E7520 Chipset), 2 GB DDR2-400 SDRAM (4 nodes have 6GB)
  • 1 Dual processor Dell PE 2850 Server for login and interactive work (2x2.8GHz 'Nocona' Xeon processors, 1MB L2 cache), 4 GB PC2100 RAM, SCSI RAID
  • The cluster has now 82 processors in total (including the login node)

April 2005: Extension

  • Purchased a second rack with an additional 34 Dual processor Dell PE SC1425 Servers: 2x3.2GHz 'Nocona' Xeon Processors (with EM64T 64 bit extension ,1MB L2 Cache, Intel E7520 Chipset), 2 GB DDR2-400 SDRAM
  • The cluster has now 150 processors in total

June 2006: Extension

  • Purchased a third rack with an additional 64 2.2 GHz 64-bit AMD Opteron processors in the following configuration:
    8 dual-core dual processor nodes with 4 GB of RAM
    4 dual-core dual processor nodes with 16 GB of RAM
    1 dual-core quad processor node with 16 GB of RAM
    1 dual-core quad processor node with 32 GB of RAM
  • The cluster has now 214 processors in total
